Request collapsing in the Vercel CDN prevents cache stampedes
The Vercel CDN now implements request collapsing to prevent cache stampedes, where multiple simultaneous requests for expired ISR routes trigger redundant function invocations. Only one request per region regenerates the cache while others wait for the result, reducing compute waste and backend overload.
When you deploy a Next.js app with (ISR), pages get regenerated on-demand after their cache expires. ISR lets you get the performance benefits of static generation while keeping your content fresh.Incremental Static Regeneration
But there's a problem. When many users request the same ISR route at once and the cache is expired, each request can trigger its own function invocation. This is called a "cache stampede." It wastes compute, overloads your backend, and can cause downtime.
The Vercel CDN now prevents this with . When multiple requests hit the same uncached path, only one request per region invokes a function. The rest wait and get the cached response.request collapsing
Vercel automatically infers cacheability for each request through framework-defined infrastructure, configuring our globally distributed router. No manual configuration needed.

Timestamp attributes now supported in Vercel Flags
Vercel Flags now supports timestamp attributes for entities, allowing you to create time-based targeting rules. Use this feature to run limited-time campaigns, show content between specific dates, or target users based on registration date.
Glyph Cluster now available in stealth on AI Gateway
Glyph Cluster, a reasoning model for coding and long-context analysis, is now available as a stealth model on Vercel's AI Gateway for Pro and Enterprise plan teams with purchased AI Gateway credits at no cost during the stealth period. The model supports function calling, streams responses, and can be accessed via AI SDK, OpenAI-compatible APIs, and coding agents.
